Bronze Age Zoomorphic Axe

This Bronze Age axe is based very heavily on one in the National Museum in Budapest.

At present I know very little about it (please let me know if you know anything), but I just fell in love and had to make it and here we are….

The head is in the form of a stylised beast and may be a boar, but as I believe the origin to be Scythian, it is more likely to be a horse.

Mounted on a charred ash shaft.

Total weight (including shaft)  843g/29oz

Length of shaft 47cm/18.5″

Head dimension 16cm x 12cm or 6″x4.5″

Please allow six months.
